The date in English

There are two ways of saying the date in English

USA (American English)

Written English: August 14, 2024     [ Month + Day+ Year]

Even if the ( th ) isn’t written an ordinal number is still said.

Spoken English: August fifteenth

Numbers (Numerical Dates): 08/15/2024 or 08-15-2024 or 08.15.2024

 

UK (British English)

Written English:15th August 2024 or 15 August 2024     [ Day + Month + Year]

The Words (the) and (of) are not included when we write date in English.

Spoken English: The fifteenth of August

Numbers (Numerical Dates): 15/08/2024 or 15/8/2024 or 15-08-2024 or 15-8-2024 or 15.08.2024 or 15.8.2024 

عند كتابة تاريخ مجموعةي ( Numerical Dates ) , لاتتطلب الارقام مؤشرات ترتيبية ( علــى سبيل المثال – الاول( 1st) – الثاني(2nd) – الثالث(3rd) – الرابع( 4th) ). بدلا مـــن ذلك يحصل كتابتها ببساطة كارقام مكونة مـــن رقـــمين . بالالنسبة للارقام التــي لاتتكون مـــن رقـــمين مـــا علــىك سوى بالبالاضافة لذلك ( صفر ) قبل الرقـــم الفعلــى ( ينطبق هذا علــى كـــل مـــن الشهر وحيث اليوم مـــن الشهر )

فــيمـــا يلي كل الأيام الشهر كمـــا ينبغي كتابتها رقـــميًا ( written numerically ) :

[ 01 , 02 , 03 , 04 , 05 , 06 , 07 , 08 , 09 , 10 , 11 , 12 , 13 , 14 , 15 , 16 , 17 , 18 , 19 , 20 , 21 , 22 , 23 , 24 , 25 , 26 , 27 , 28 , 29 , 30 , 31]

 

بالبالاضافة لذلك إلــى ذلك، يمكن أيضًا اختصار أشهــر السنة 

لتوفــير المساحة. فــيمـــا يلي الاختصارات والتمثيلات الرقـــمية لكل أشهــر السنة الاثني عشر:

January – Jan. – 01

February – Feb. – 02

March – Mar. – 03

April – Apr. – 04

May – May – 05

June – Jun. – 06

July – Jul. – 07

August – Aug. – 08

September – Sept. – 09

October – Oct. – 10

November – Nov. – 11

December – Dec. – 12

 

حتى تقول التاريخ، علــىك أنه تتتعلم الأرقام الترتيبية  ( ordinal numbers ) 

 

 

الفرق بين الأعداد الأساسية ( Cardinal )  والترتيبية ( Ordinal )

 

 

Ask for the Date as:

or

The response:

In American English

It is September 13th    or    Today is September 13th 

It is September thirteenth      or     Today is September thirteenth

 

For the British Date Format

It is the 13th of September     or   Today is the 13th of September

It is the thirteenth of September     or     Today is the thirteenth of September

 

Years are normally divided into two parts: 

nineteen eighty-four	1984
sixteen fifty-two	1652
nineteen forty-one	1941
twenty seventeen	2017

                                     

Exception:

 For the years from 2000 to 2010 we normally say:  two thousand and number

ex: 2006 – two thousand and six
