The WNBA’s first player to reach 10,000 points is Diana Taurasi.

The 41-year-old became the first WNBA player to reach 10,000 points with a deep 3-pointer in the third quarter of a game against the Atlanta Dream. She increased her point total for the season with 42 during Phoenix’s 91-71 victory.

Following Tuesday night’s one-point loss to Indiana, Taurasi, who scored 29 points, stated, “I truly don’t think about the number, I honestly don’t. I’ve always said that I only play basketball for enjoyment. I only keep going to the gym because I still like to play and because this gang still shows there every day.
[05/08, 12:52 AM] Mohamed Abd_Elazem: The group is there, but it does not prevail. It is challenging to ignore the approaching milestone, even though Taurasi has been focused on turning around a losing season for the only WNBA team she has ever played for.
With 10,000 points, Taurasi is more than 2,500 points clear of Tina Thompson, who is in second. On Thursday night against Atlanta, Taurasi, who has scored 19.1 points per game on average during her career, had her first real chance to reach the milestone. She nailed it.
I’d like to offer my sincere congratulations to Diana on attaining the great milestone of 10,000 points as she continues to write new chapters in her brilliant WNBA career on behalf of the WNBA and basketball fans worldwide. In a statement, WNBA Commissioner Cathy Engelbert made the disclosure.
[05/08, 12:53 AM] Mohamed Abd_Elazem: Diana has captivated spectators with her remarkable scoring ability, clutch performances, and unmatched basketball IQ. Her success is a testament to her skill, perseverance, and undying dedication to the game. We are honored to be there for this historic occasion.
The next player on the list who is still active is DeWanna Bonner. The Connecticut Sun forward, who is almost 36 years old, is about 3,300 points behind Taurasi.
